Simon Carves proudly sponsored the Macclesfield half marathon which took place this year on 30th September.
Now in its 11th year, the race day was the most successful to date with 1203 entrants in total. Of these there were 804 finishers of the half marathon, 135 of the 5K race (the first time one was staged in parallel) and all 44 of the fun runners.
Thankfully it didn’t rain on the day and the runners all gave positive feedback, especially concerning the 140 helpful volunteers and helpers who helped make the day such a success. Neil Gunn, a member of organisers Macclesfield Harriers, gave a ‘huge thank you to all the volunteers who made it happen’.
This year the event raised £15,000 for the East Cheshire Hospice, who were once again the main beneficiary of the race. The Hospice offers care free at the point of delivery which is only possible thanks to donations such as this, as it receives less than 23% of its income from the government. Jo Papadimitriou sincerely thanked Simon Carves on behalf the Macclesfield Half Marathon for our sponsorship and support of the event, saying our ‘contribution really did make a difference’.
